Every Success Has Its Own Unique Story

Our Story

Sometimes the best stories begin with a simple prayer – and a little bit of persistence.

The Angry Mama’s story began when John's corporate job relocated his family to North Georgia the week of Christmas in 2015. While they were grateful for the opportunity, moving meant leaving behind the community they loved and starting over in a place where they didn't know anyone.

By August 2016, John and Natalie’s children were starting at a new school, surrounded by unfamiliar faces. Natalie prayed over her children's day, asking the Lord to bring them good friends at their new school. As she finished praying, she added one more request: that He would bring some friends for John and her, too. Starting over as a family was exciting, but it was also hard, and they were ready to find a new community.

Later that same day, Natalie had a hair appointment at a new salon. While chatting with her stylist, she mentioned that the family was thinking about going to a local water park that weekend for a little fun. A blonde woman sitting in the chair next to her suddenly chimed in. "I don't mean to butt into your conversation, but you should try Lake Lanier Islands."That woman was Libby.

What started as a random conversation at a hair salon quickly turned into something neither Natalie nor Libby could have planned. As they began talking, they discovered that they had children the same ages, their children attended the same school, and Libby and her husband, Randy, attended the very same church that Natalie and John had recently visited. They exchanged phone numbers and even shared pictures of their families with each other.

The next day at school, Libby's son found Natalie's son at lunch (notably awkward for two 9th grade boys who still laugh about their crazy moms to this day). And they've been great friends ever since.

Natalie and Libby quickly became friends too, although it took a little longer to convince their husbands to meet. As Randy famously put it, "Libby, I don't want to go to dinner with some weird lady you met at the hair salon!" Thankfully, persistence won out.

The two couples eventually went to dinner together, and John and Randy quickly discovered that they had something in common: a real love for auctions, antiques, and finding great stuff. From there, it didn't take long for an idea to take shape. Angry Mama's Auction Company was born.

We began hosting live auctions in downtown Jasper, Georgia, and what started as a business venture quickly became something much bigger. It became a family, a friendship, and a community built around our shared love of antiques and the thrill of the hunt.

A few years later, in 2022, an opportunity came along to purchase an existing antique mall in Cumming, Georgia. We took a leap of faith, and Angry Mama's made its move into the location we call home today. Over the next few years, with a lot of hard work and some more of that “persistence” we grew the Cumming location into a 3X Best of Forsyth County Business.

Then, as fate would have it, another opportunity came knocking – this time in the beautiful North Georgia mountain town of Dahlonega. So just like that, in 2025, we opened Angry Mama's Dahlonega.

Today, Angry Mama's Cumming and Angry Mama’s Dahlonega are home to a wonderful community of dealers, customers, collectors, treasure hunters, and friends. All people with a true passion for great finds!

When we look back, it's easy to see that the story was being written long before we ever knew where it was headed. Natalie prayed for new friends for her children and for herself & John. The Lord answered that prayer in a big way. He didn't just send friends. He blessed both families with lifelong friendships, business partners, a community, a business we love, and countless memories along the way.

And somehow, it all started with a hair appointment, a conversation about where to take the kids swimming, and one very friendly blonde woman sitting in the next chair.

We are so glad you're part of the story.
